Lying in the Ajmer District of Rajasthan, the holy City of Pushkar is often described as the king of pilgrimage sites in India. The town is located at the shores of the Pushkar Lake, which was created by the tears of Lord Shiva and is one of the oldest cities of India and the date of its origin is unknown and is often associated with the Hindu mythology. It is famous for its temples and various Ghats which are frequented by hundreds of visitors during the annual bath. The water of the lake is considered sacred and thus is responsible for the town’s repute as a pilgrimage spot.

Perhaps the most illustrious attraction of Pushkar is the annual camel fair. It is a five day fair held where people buy and sell livestock. But that’s not all; the fair is home to a large no. of tourist crowd that is attracted by the music, dance and various events that are held here during the camel fair. Camel races are one of the major attractions as well.

Pushkar Lake

Pushkar Lake is surrounded by 52 bathing ghats (a series of steps leading to the lake), where pilgrims throng in large numbers to take a sacred bath, especially around Kartik Poornima (October–November) when the Pushkar Fair is held.

Brahma Temple

Jagatpita Brahma Mandir is a Hindu temple situated at Pushkar in the Indian state of Rajasthan, close to the sacred Pushkar Lake to which its legend has an indelible link. The temple sanctum sanctorum holds the image of four-headed Brahma and his consort Gayatri(goddess of vedas).

Savitri temple

The Savitri temple in Pushkar is located on the Ratnagiri hill which is a popular pilgrimage site for the Hindus. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Savitri. In this temple you will find the idols of both the wives of Lord Brahma named Savitri and Gayatri.

Apteshwar Temple

A highly significant and popular religious attraction in the town of Pushkar, Apteshwar temple dedicates itself to Lord Shiva. Among the 400 temples that Pushkar bedecks within its boundaries, this worship site or one can say, a religious edifice that holds equal importance like that of the Brahma temple.It is actually an underground shrine that was built in the 12th century. The temple is believed to be sunk inside the ground in the past. Thus, the statue of the presiding deity, Shiva retains its position in the form of a huge Linga with a snake made of copper encircled around it in the main hall, down the earth.

Varaha Temple

The Varaha Temple at Khajuraho (Devanagri: वराह मंदिर) enshrines a colossal monolithic image of Varaha, the boar incarnation of Lord Vishnu. This temple depicts Varaha as a purely animal form. Varaha (Sanskrit: वराह) is the third Avatar of the Lord Vishnu, in the form of a Varaha (Boar).

Rangji temple

This temple is devoted to Lord Rangji who is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. This temple was funded by Seth Puran Mal Ganeriwal of Hyderabad in 1823 and presents a confluence of different cultures in its architecture which is an influence of the Dravidian, the Rajputana and the Mughal styles of architecture.

Man Mahal

Known as the largest royal place of residence in all of Pushkar, Man Mahal is the place to be if you are looking to go back in time and revisit history. Located a short walk away from the Sarovar Lake, it offers amazing views of the town, in addition to mesmerising sunrises and sunsets.
